Detail
EN AW 6063 offers excellent weldability. The magnesium content provides high resistance to cracking and stable weld seams. MIG, TIG, spot welding and roll seam welding are commonly used. In general, no special heat treatment is required, since the alloy is not significantly weakened by welding.
Detail
EN AW 6063 has good machinability. The alloy can be machined well with carbide and HSS tools. High cutting speeds and medium to high feed rates are possible. Emulsions or synthetic coolants can be used to improve surface quality. The alloy tends to form short chips, which facilitates chip evacuation and reduces the risk of machine stoppages.
Detail
EN AW 6063 has very good forgeability. The alloy is less prone to cracking and can be formed into a variety of shapes. For best results, careful temperature control and appropriate post-treatments are important.
Detail
Aluminium is a non-magnetic element. With the magnesium addition the alloy remains non-magnetic.
Detail
This aluminium alloy has very good corrosion resistance. It is resistant in many environments, including marine conditions. It forms an oxide layer that protects the metal from various environmental influences and is less susceptible to stress corrosion cracking.
