FAQ
A classic cycle-time-bound line makes economic sense when very high volumes are produced with low variant diversity (High Volume – Low Mix). As soon as setup times increase due to frequent product changes, or processing times diverge significantly between variants, a rigid cycle line leads to massive waiting times and efficiency losses.
This is where flexible, modular systems come into their own.
The solution lies in decoupling critical processes and modularizing the software logic. Through parallel workstations for time-intensive assembly steps and the use of flexible pallet conveyor systems, variant-related time differences can be compensated.
While the main line runs at a constant base cycle, time-intensive variants are temporarily routed into parallel functional loops or cells.
A fundamental one. In flexible systems, employees switch between different tasks and stations more frequently. Ergonomically optimized workstations that maintain optimal reach zones and automatically adjust to the operator's height demonstrably reduce search and movement times.
