Laser cutting describes a manufacturing technology that can be used to cut materials of different thicknesses. A laser beam is bundled and guided to cut metals or other materials under extreme heat. Thanks to computer-controlled processing, complex shapes can be cut in great detail.
Before production, a drawing is required as a template for the laser cutting program. This loads information on beam intensity, cutting paths, cutting speed and focus point into the machine. In addition, the laser parameters for the best possible processing are set depending on the material.
After the cutting process, the laser part is inspected for surface quality and dimensional accuracy. Sometimes post-processing is carried out, such as deburring to remove sharp edges. Thanks to its precision and flexibility, laser cutting is used in the automotive and aviation industries, among others.
