The copper grade Cu-ETP is not well suited to welding. Gas welding and manual arc welding are particularly discouraged for this material. Only butt welding in the resistance welding category can be used effectively for this copper grade.

Cu-ETP has poor machinability. This is mainly due to the formation of long stringy chips during machining. Machinability also depends on strength; in a particularly strong (hardened) condition the machinability of the material improves slightly.

This copper grade forges well. Therefore various forged parts can be produced regardless of the material condition.

Cu-ETP is generally regarded as non-magnetic. It has neither para- nor ferromagnetic properties.

Cu-ETP generally offers good corrosion resistance. In both natural and marine atmospheres the material provides effective protection, visible as the surface layer "Patina". Against certain acids and chemicals such as ammonia it offers poor protection, and processes involving open flame carry a high risk of embrittlement.
