In general, CuCr1Zr is not well suited to welding. Because of its material properties, neither gas welding nor conventional MIG or TIG processes are recommended. A practical exception is resistance welding, for which the alloy is well suited.

The machinability of CuCr1Zr is only moderate to poor in both the solution-annealed and aged conditions. This is mainly due to the formation of flat or tangled helical chips, which results in an unfavorable chip form.

This copper alloy forges well, allowing reliable production of various forged parts largely independent of the initial condition.

Because CuCr1Zr contains no iron, the material is non-magnetic in typical applications.

Compared with pure copper, CuCr1Zr shows significantly improved corrosion resistance. It provides good protection against media such as fresh water or non-oxidizing acids. However, the alloy is not suitable for use in seawater environments or under strong flow conditions. It remains vulnerable to solutions containing cyanides, halides, or ammonia.
