CuSn12-C has overall decent weldability, particularly for resistance welding methods such as butt welding. MIG, TIG or oxy-fuel welding are only suitable to a limited extent due to the material properties.

The high toughness and wear resistance of CuSn12-C make machining more difficult, as relatively high tool wear can occur during processing. With carbide tools this wear can be reduced and machining stabilized.

This copper alloy is not well suited to forging. It is significantly better suited to processes such as permanent mold (gravity die) casting or sand casting.

The CuSn12-C alloy is normally non-magnetic. Only a small addition of iron can cause slight ferromagnetic properties.

CuSn12-C has very good corrosion resistance compared to other copper alloys. It provides reliable protection against atmospheric and industrial influences. Its excellent resistance in contact with seawater makes it widely used in maritime environments and shipbuilding. The material is not resistant to cyanide or halide solutions, ammonia or oxidizing acids; it can also be prone to soil corrosion under certain conditions.
