CW508L has moderate weldability. Whether the material is suitable for welding depends largely on the welding process. Gas welding and resistance welding are well suited for CW508L, while other welding methods are less suitable due to the alloy composition, for example WIG and MIG welding.

Despite some improvements depending on the strength condition, this material generally has only moderate to rather low machinability. This is mainly because the material produces unfavorable chip forms, and machining can generate tangled and flat ribbon chips.

Forming by forging is very good for CuZn37. The material is typically forged at temperatures between 650 - 750°C. It is important not to exceed these temperatures, as doing so can impair surface quality or mechanical properties.
